Inside The Mind Of Evil

Something is bothering me today.
It has been 21 years since my manz Mufasa was murdered by his evil brother, Scar, after an unforgettable fight. The moment Mufasa fell down and immediately died, probably due to multiple fractures & head injuries, as his son Simba cried over his dead body asking him to wake up, was when I experienced my first heart break. Of course, since then, life gave me a few others, but none could ever top this one.
Mufasa was not just a loving father; he was also the sweetest husband, the greatest leader and one of the wisest males I have ever come across. He had a positive outlook on life that he deeply imprinted and passed on to his son, Simba. Mufasa was physically strong and had a quite solid exterior, but he was very loving, playful, and a total marshmallow on the inside.
Now, it’s time to sip on some truth tea. I am not here to talk about Mufasa, I am here to talk about his brother Scar, Disney’s most evil villain in my opinion.
The real reason Scar was so bitter, egotistic, envious, resentful, cowardly and self-centered could easily be traced back to his parents, King Ahadi and Queen Uru of the Pride Lands.
But before I continue, here’s two fun facts:
1. “Mufasa” means “King” in the Manazoto language.
2. Before Scar got his scar, his real name was “Taka,” which, in Swahili, means ‘trash or dirt.’
Yes, you read that right, TRASH.
So when Mama & Papa gave birth to these two lions, they named their light-skinned son, and their eldest, “Mufasa,” and they named their dark-skinned and second son, “Taka.” Not only is this absolutely bad parenting, but it is also incredibly racist!
Scar would’ve had such a different life if it wasn’t for this fatal mistake. How on earth can you name your two children “Garbage” and “King” and expect Garbage not to want to kill his entire family? Life is hard enough as it is, why complicate it even more?
Knowing that Mufasa was the heir of the throne, as he was the eldest, Scar’s jealousy issues grew deeper everyday. Having power, confidence, intelligence and courage, it wasn’t hard for Mufasa to soon find love and create a beautiful family with his wife Sarabi and his son Simba. The happier Mufasa got, the more resentful Scar became, and hence the murder. Not only did he murder Mufasa, but he also convinced Simba that it was his fault, causing Simba to flee the kingdom and go eat bugs with the constantly lit duo, Timon & Pumbaa. In Scar’s mind, that was how he could finally rule and matter, as he had spent his entire life watching his brother take the spotlight, and waited for his turn to rule next, up until Simba was born and became the new heir of the throne.
Scar probably spent his entire life thinking that no matter what he does, he will always be considered a nobody. The fact that his brother was “Mufasa” a.k.a. KING, who eventually became a king and lived up to his name, probably added insult to injury, and made him think that he was only as big as his name. Scar probably spent nights on end wondering,
“What if I could be a greater lion? What if I get a master’s degree in lion business or try to find love? Aaaah, nevermind, who would ever love garbage? And even if I did get that master’s degree or even became a writer or a doctor, what is the best-case scenario? People saying, “Oh, Dr. Trash is such a great doctor, he really helped me with that tail pain!” Or, “Have you read Garbage’s book? It’s so beautifully-written!” No. There’s no point trying, they will always see Mufasa as a greater lion than me, and the best I could ever do it live up, or actually down, to my name.”
Poor lion also probably thought he was ugly, just because he had different looks than his brother. Mufasa, may his soul rest in eternal peace, was a truly handsome lion, with his beautiful brown mane, gorgeous tail and golden, sun-kissed fur. Scar was definitely not ugly though. How many lions do you know can rock a goatee and still effortlessly slay the way Scar did? Scar had a different kind of beauty than Mufasa; he was elegant, with sleek chocolate fur and a beautiful black mane. He had that bad-boy swag and wild-looking beauty, while Mufasa rocked the clean, freshly-shaved lion look. At the end of the day, they were both beautiful, God bless their gene pool.
All in all, that makes me really sad, because poor Scar really went through a great deal of emotions in his life. If only Queen Uru and King Ahadi just put in a little more effort in their parenting, they would’ve made Scar into a much greater male, and not a murderer.
On the bright side, we could all view this as a lesson in parenting. Here’s what you can take with you from The Lion King and apply in your life as a parent:
1. NEVER name your child after garbage!
2. NEVER discriminate when it comes to your children and always play it fair, unless you want one of them to throw the other off a cliff and convince your grandchild that it was their fault!
3. Every child is different, do not create competition between your own children, but embrace their individuality and teach them to accept eachothers’ differences.
4. Don’t be racist, it’s 2017 for God’s sake!
5. Do not let your children be friends with people who feed them bugs, but that’s a story for another day.
In conclusion, one must never try to find excuses for a criminal, and one should never kill or harm another soul no matter what. I will never forgive Scar for that brutal murder as long as I live, but now I think I understand his mentality a little bit more.
